Thelma & Louise Half Marathon & Relay

Course


The Thelma & Louise Half is an out-and-back, mostly flat course that meanders along the Colorado River on Highway 279 (Potash Road). The race will Start and Finish at the Gold Bar Campground. This campground has direct access to the river, so remember to bring your lifejackets and swim suits!

Start Time: 6:00 AM - We are sure to beat the heat with an early start time!

COURSE SUPPORT
We will have 8 aid stations with water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, and porta-potties spaced approximately every 1.5 miles. Aid station 4/5 will also have Clif Shot Energy Gels.

Half Marathon Time Limit and Road Closure

There is a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 min/mile pace).

Hwy 279 from Gold Bar campground and beyond is closed to traffic from 5:30 am—10 am. Runners still on Hwy 279 after 10 am are required to catch a ride in the sweep vehicle.

Cutoff Times

Race Start: 6:00 am

Mile 6.55 Cutoff, relay exchange: 1 hour 15 minutes (7:15 am)*
Mile 6.55 Cutoff, half marathon: 1 hour 45 minutes (7:45 am)

Mile 10 Cutoff: 2 hours 40 minutes (8:40 am)

If you do not make a cutoff, you MUST board the Sweep Vehicle. Keep in mind that course services including aid stations and medical will also be discontinued once the Sweep Vehicle comes through. The finish line closes at 9:30 am. Finish line food and services cannot be guaranteed after the allotted time limit.

*RELAY RUNNERS:
The cutoff time for the first relay runner is 1 hour 15 minutes (11 minute 27 second per mile pace). Due to shuttle timing, the person running the first leg does not make it to the exchange point by the cutoff time, they will need to wait for the half marathon sweep vehicle for a ride back (vehicle will return to finish 3.5 hours after race start). Overall team cutoff time is 3.5 hrs after race start.
